A fat lip

We were headed to the Bishops Storehouse to do some of our food storage stuff with the ward yesterday when I got a call from my brother saying we better turn around and come take Aspen to the Hospital because she'd just split her lip open. If you know me, you know I freak out easily, so I was all worried, thinking the worst of course. I thought that I would find a puddle of blood and a large cut halfway up to her nose, etc...so when we got there, I almost laughed, because the damage wasn't as bad as they thought. Once it stopped bleeding, and started puffing up, it started closing itself back together, so by the time we got there, it looked a lot better than when it first happened. We decided it wasn't likely they would do anything at the hospital, so we put some medicine on it, and by this morning, it was looking lots better, just a fat lip and a bruised mouth. She had been sitting up on the bar stool on my Nephew Zacs lap, when he went to climb down and his foot got caught, and he ended up dropping her on her face and falling over the top of her, poor things. He felt awful about it, but I just told him that's what happens sometimes. She could have been hurt lots worse, so I am glad she just got her first fat lip! She screamed somethin awful, but she's all better today, and back to singing songs. A little about where she is at in life right now...

*She is now Potty Trained (Does it count if she still has one messy a day? Usually a poopie) But she tells me when she needs to go now, and stays dry through the night.
*She counts to 20 - almost without skipping numbers
*she sings her ABC's really well and can almost sign them -she tries so hard
*She does a bunch of signs still. Her newest sign is Egg
*She sings TONS of songs...here are her most common you will hear her singing if you walk into a room she's in by herself:
I love to see the Temple (Gotta hear it...I'll try videotaping it soon...)
Baa Baa Black Sheep
Autograph (by John Denver)
For Baby For Bobby (By John Denver)
Poor Litte Robin (Written by my mom)
Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam
There's a Lonely Little Robin
I am a child of God
ABC's "Super Why T'v Show way"
You are my Sunshine
Twinkle Twinkle little star
The chorus to Umbrella by Rhianna (Ha ha)
She likes Avril Lavigne and Ciara...what can I say? Shes a funny thing
There are more, but I can't think of them right now.
*she loves to dance
*Likes jumping on any tramp available and will jump for hours NOT kidding...hours
*She loves going on walks and being outside
*She gives the best squeezes around my neck
*loves to blow bubbles and go swimming
*She is a great helper. Loves to help clean and sings "clean up clean up everybody everywhere..."
*loves Nurshrey on Sundays
*Gives a grimace instead of a smile when asked to smile...ha

She is a sweet baby and a great learner. She has been fun lately...and busy. I often wonder if I will make it through this age...2 is tricky. I'm sure I will, and I'll look back and wonder why and how it went so quickly. Just like I do when I think of her when she was just a tiny baby. I can't even imagine her that small anymore. It's a little sad to think about.

Well, that's my long post for journalings sake...

Zions

Alright. I'm finally getting around to my Zion's Vacation post. We had a great time. It was not a relaxing vacation at all, but it was fun. We would wake early, and go on LONG hard hikes. The first day, I couldn't get pictures sadly, because we hiked in water that came up to my waist. It is a lot harder than I thought to hike in water...and kinda cold...but it was a lot of fun and very pretty between the caves.

The second day we went to Angels Landing...not quite sure where the name came from, but for how steep it is and how many people they have had die from falling...maybe that's where it came from. We took my niece Nikki and nephew Zac with us. (Since we didn't take Aspen) and they got upset that we wouldn't let them go on the very tip edge of Angels Landing where you can fall off the mountain easily on either side. It's a very narrow tip top. Ah well...I didn't want to be the one held responsible for there death should they fall...it was steep and tough to climb, but you feel so great when you accomplish something like that. While there, we ate some lunch at the top, and watched as a squirrel climbed into someone's backpack and stole a bag out of it and ran off quickly. I laughed, it was rather funny to see how "Squirrly" they can be. (See pics below)

The third day, we went Tubing down a VERY rocky river. I thought it was just going to be relaxing floating in a tube...nope...I was wrong. It was hard, because it was so shallow and we'd get stuck on rocks. There was a huge group of us. We were up there with Ashtons mom, sisters, and lots of cousins and uncles and aunts.

The fourth day we went on a 3.5 hr horse ride...talk about a sore bottom! And I got way sunburned. It was fun, except I kept wishing my horse could go faster, but they train them well to go super slow...not fun for people who know how to ride horses.

That was about it. Overall, it was a great vacation, but I was exhausted when I got home. I don't think Aspen missed us much. Like I mentioned in my earlier post. When I did call her, she just let me know "I'm doin jus fine mom!" So I guess she was just fine. I missed her lots, but I didn't at all miss work. It was so nice to have a break. And not have to answer my phone at all.

Long post, I know...enjoy the pics!

More to come

Here's a little of our past two weeks just for memory sake until I can get a chance to really update...it's been busy here.

Ashton and I went to Zions for a week. When I called home to talk to Aspen she said with a exasperated voice, "I doin just fine mom!"

Ashton now has his dads Jeep, and we went for a ride in it with Aspen today, and she says, "do you like gampas Jeep dad?"

She is so smart and talks so much. I can't believe the things that come out of her mouth.

We did a LOT in Zions, and I have lots of pics, so when I have some time that I don't have a 2 year old tugging at me, I'll write about it all...so stay tuned.

Happy Fathers Day to all you fathers out there too!

The things she says...

Today I pulled Aspens hair up into a ponytail and she looked at me with wide eyes and said "I already cute" then she said "Need to look in the mirror" WOW! Where did that come from? Ha. Your guess is as good as mine. I rarely take any time in the day to look in the mirror, so I'm pretty sure she didn't learn it from me, but Ashton and I started laughing. She is a ham. She is doing great with her potty training. Still has some accidents, but I think it's mostly due to how sick she's been this week. She has acute influenza and the Dr put her on Steroids for 3 days because she was acting kinda weird. She kept zoning out on us. He said it happens to some kids when they get fevers. Weird. Anyway, she's slowly getting back to herself, but I feel like I am starting to get it...my throat is dry and scratch today. Such is life. If one gets it in the family, seems we all do.

We have Nikki and Zac (My niece and nephew) living here with us for the summer, and Aspen is LOVING it. She cries when they leave without her and the first thing she wants when she wakes in the morning is them. I'm worried about what she'll act like when they leave back home after the summer. She LOVES having playmates around. And as much as I've tried to get her a "Playmate" here this year, it's just not happening...guess we'll wait it out. In the meantime, I'm going to have to start having more playdates for her. She LOVES someone to play with that's her own age. It's fun and sad to watch her grow up so fast. She changes all the time. And I KNOW she's too old when she comes to lay in mine and Ashton's bed and says to me "Get out of my place, move to your own mom."...yep...that one started this week. She thinks that my side of the bed is hers now, and I belong at the foot of the bed...like a dog...hope it's not a bad omen for how she'll treat me when she's older...heaven help me.

She likes to play with her little buddy Hayden in the swimming pool. She is LOVING summer...when the weather is warm at least. She can sit out there for hours. We had Hayden over a few weeks ago, and she kept trying to kiss the poor boy. As cute as we thought it was, he DIDN'T. He kept trying to get away from her, and she just kept following. Guess it's time to give her the "We don't kiss boys" lesson...didn't know we'd need it so soon! ha ha. I'm looking forward to a fun summer. Hope it's relaxing more than anything.

just for fun

Thought I'd give it one more go. I figured I could go faster than 60wpm. I want to be a super fast typer, and I usually practice a little every day, so I tried it one more time when I didn't have a little girl tuggin at my feet. Just proving to myself that practice can help me do better! ha ha
