Oh my goodness, what a day- Wonder how many more we'll have like this...

I went into the pantry today to get some things for dinner tonight, and Aspen shut the door on me (because she is really good at shutting doors now-what a big girl) and then she opened the drawer to play with the stuff in it. The one right outside in front of the pantry door, and I was locked in. I couldn't get out of the pantry. It was a little scary, I could only open it a crack, and Aspen was on the outside of the door...so I enticed Aspen to stay close by; by tempting her with my phone to play with. That just made her cry cuz I wouldn't give it to her. Then I got a "wise mom" moment, and thought maybe I could reach my arm through the crack a little and push her slightly towards the drawer to push it shut....well, not a smart mom moment I decided...next thing I know she crashes and starts screaming. She bumped her head. But she is okay. She just got a little bump on her head (what a great mom I am). Then I called Ashtons friends (and mine) Dan and Laura Call. They came and broke in through the window and rescued us. It was quite a day. Good thing I had my phone in my back pocket. It could have been worse I guess...I did get to laughing when I had to explain to Laura on the phone that Aspen locked me in the pantry and she was outside the door crying to get in with me. Oh the good times we have as parents.

Nothing new today sadly...no new pictures even. It's been an "attempt" to clean the house day. I put something away, Aspen pulls it out, I put something up, Aspen climbs up to it and pulls it down, I mop the floor, Aspen spits her food out on it...and so goes the day. I took a break from work today. Just not in the mood. That's the joys of running your own business I guess.

Hello to mom and dad in Peru. Hope you are doing well on your mission and making lots of people happy! We sure miss you around here...Aspen misses you the most I think. And we miss you watching her...ha ha.

Ashton has been super busy going to school and doing work in the evenings. We don't see him much. When he's home he is off in a room studying. He's doing really well in his classes right now. He's a super smart hubby.

Well that's all. Hope everyone else's lives are this exciting...

Gardening With Mom

We were in the Garden today weeding it. Of course...I'm not much of a picture taker, so I forgot to take pictures WHILE we were outside. Instead I thought of it after we were getting ready to take a shower. She helped out alright...she ate all the dirt that I couldn't get to her fast enough to take away. Guess a little dirt never hurt anyone.

OH she's just so darn sweet!

Aspen is Really great at smiling for pictures. She "cheeses" it BIG time. She is a sweet baby, and I am still amazed at how much she learns everyday. She can now sign and say "grandpa, grandma, cracker, ball (that's her favorite), eat, drink, bath (she whispers this one for some reason), baby time (when she wants to watch baby signing time), dad, mom, drink, please, thank you (which sometimes gets mixed up with blowing kisses).

She loves to swim, play ball, go for walks, talk about her "bampa" (grandpa), sing songs, watch baby signing time, laugh, play chase, peekabo, itsy bitsy spider, playing with Hayden, making messes, watering the garden with mom adn running through the hose, and all sorts of things.

This is Aspens best friend Hayden Nilson. They have the best time together. Hayden is 4 months younger than Aspen...but you wouldn't know it because he is taller than her, and can do anything she can. He is determined to keep up with her. They started crawling at the same time, and walking at the same time. Aspen use to push him around, but now he's learned to stand on his own two feet and not take it from her. It's good for her to learn to be nice!

This is Aspen and her GREAT Grandma Twila Gagon Peck. Aspen was named Aspen TWILA after her Great Grandma, because Grandma Peck is the very best person in this world. She is 102 (At least I think that's how old she is...the years keep going and she never looks any older). She reads poetry and use to write poetry (she still might...) but if you ever go to her house, you are sure to hear at least one poem before you leave, and it's always one that will make you smile. She is a wonderful lady with a heart full of love for her family. I love her so much, and am so thankful that she is MY grandma! This picture will be cherished forever. I hope that since we gave Aspen Twila her name, that she will have as good of a heart as her Great Grandma, and that she will strieve to live as good of a life.

Capitol Reef

This was us at Capitol Reef this summer (2007). It was Aspens first camp out in a tent. She hated it. The wind would blow the tent and wake her up. She wanted to sleep right between Ashton and I which wasn't very comfortable. We went on a 5 mile hike (5 hrs) and she was SOOO good. What a princess. She is growing up so fast, I can hardly keep up with her. By the end of the day, she was so exhausted she couldn't even hold her head up. She was so good as long as it wasn't night time. She loved eating the rocks everywhere we went, and she would "sing" to her dad while he carried her on his back. What a sweet babe!
